Personal Information

Personal information refers to anything that identifies you as an individual. This includes your full name, date of birth, address, phone number, email address, and any other information that identifies you or would allow someone to contact you. Your information only becomes known to us when you provide it—or when a third party, such as a travel agent, makes a reservation on your behalf.

Collection and usage

If you would like to fly with us, subscribe to our eNugget (emails about sales, promotions, or other Air North news), or participate in a promotion or contest organized by Air North, you will be asked for some information.

To book a flight

When you book a flight, we will ask you for your name, address, phone number, email address and credit card information. We are also required to ask you for your gender under Canadian law, information we use solely to determine the weight and balance of our aircraft. To simplify future bookings, you will be assigned a Passenger ID Number—which will allow you to view and modify reservations, track any credits, and update your contact information.

We collect your contact information as a means to contact you about your booking and anything that might affect it, such as schedule changes, and to notify you in instances where you have credit that is about to expire.

We may also use your contact information to contact you about your travel experience with us, especially in case where you have filled out a comment card or contacted our customer experience team.

To subscribe to our eNugget

Subscribers of our eNugget emails—who are notified of seat sales and other promotions and news—are asked to provide their name, email address, address (city, province/territory/state and country of residence) and a company name (if applicable). Our eNugget emails are exclusively opt-in and recipients may unsubscribe at any time via the emails themselves or by contacting us.


Air North offers various promotions, such as contests or draws, from time to time. When you enter a promotion we will ask for your name, date of birth, email address, address (city and province/territory of residence) and phone number so that we may communicate with you in the event you are a winner.

Apart from the contact details for the winner(s), no information is retained following the end of a promotion.

Special services

To provide you with certain special services, we need more information than is required for a standard reservation. Here are the services we offer and a description of the information we need to fulfill the requirements of these special services.

Special assistance

Air North offers a full range of travel services to individuals requiring special assistance. In order to do so, our team will ask about:

  • Applicable medical conditions
  • Need for a wheelchair
  • Need for oxygen on board
  • Other special requirements

This information will be included in the passenger’s booking and shared with airport staff and flight crew only as required for operational purposes. In some airports we work with third-party ground handling services or other carriers—in those cases, we will need to share that information with them as well. In addition, if the passenger is transferring to another airline, we may also provide the information to them to ensure that the passenger has the best possible experience. These are the only instances where a passenger’s special assistance requirements would be shared with any third parties.

Unaccompanied Minors

In order to make a booking for an Unaccompanied Minor, our team will ask about:

  • Name of parent or guardian
  • Date of birth of parent or guardian
  • Contact details of parent or guardian
  • Name of the unaccompanied minor
  • Child's itinerary
  • Names and contact details of individuals meeting the child at transfer points or destination
  • Name, address, contact telephone number, and authorizing signature of the parent or guardian authorizing the request for travel

At check-in, the parent or guardian will be asked to complete an Unaccompanied Minor form—which identifies the child and their itinerary, as well as the names and contact details for the individuals meeting the child at their transfer points or destination. In addition, valid government-issued photo ID will be required for the parents or guardians who are checking in and picking up the Unaccompanied Minor. All of this information is required in order to assure the safety of the child. From the moment they arrive at airport check-in until they reach their final destination, all children are escorted and supervised by airline staff.

Compassionate travel

For compassionate travel bookings, our team will require the following information:

  • Name of patient
  • Relationship to patient
  • Name, address and phone number of attending physician or hospital

This information will be kept confidential and is only used for the purposes of confirming the legitimacy of the booking.

Bereavement travel

For compassionate travel bookings, our team will require the following information:

  • Name of deceased
  • Relationship of deceased
  • Name, address and phone number of the attending physician who filed the death certificate, or of the memorial/funeral home for the deceased family member

If you are not able to provide the information prior to your departure date, you may request a credit file once your travel is completed. You may be asked to provide:

  • Travel documents (boarding passes and ticket receipt)
  • A copy of the death certificate or Funeral Director's certificate

This information will be kept confidential and is only used for the purposes of confirming the legitimacy of the booking.


We will only collect, use and disclose your personal information with your consent—unless otherwise permitted or required by law. Implied consent occurs when you book a flight, for example. Express consent occurs when you give us written or verbal consent to use your personal information for a purpose not contemplated at the time of initial collection, or when you confirm your desire to receive the eNugget via the confirmation email after signing up.


Air North does not sell your personal information to third parties. We also do not disclose your personal information except as may be required to process your request for travel services, or as required by law. This includes, but is not limited to, any collection required by government agencies. For these purposes, you authorize us to retain such data and to transmit it to third parties as needed, in whatever country they may be located, subject to this privacy policy.


Air North may use "cookies" to store non-personal information and to track your traffic patterns on our website. The information is collected in an anonymous and aggregate form to compile general statistical data and does not give us access to any of your personal or identifying information.


Air North uses software encryption to ensure that your personal information is protected from misuse and from unauthorized access.

However, no data transmission over the internet is 100% secure. Air North cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit to us over the internet.

Retention of Information

The criteria that Air North uses to set the terms of retention of your data have been determined in accordance with the requirements established in the applicable legislation, regulations and guidelines, as well as the operational requirements of Air North. Whenever you give your express consent, your data will be kept up until a moment when you withdraw your consent, subject to our legal obligations.
