The below is a notice from the Government of Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation, with whom we are working closely to ensure the safety and well-being of the community is protected.

UPDATED: 7 December 2020

Vuntut Gwitchin Government has moved the community of Old Crow into the low risk level for COVID-19. Travellers returning to Old Crow from Whitehorse or Dawson no longer have to self-isolate for 14 days when they arrive in Old Crow, but should monitor for any COVID-19 symptoms and immediately stay home if they feel sick. Please note the updated advisory:

  1. Travellers who are close contacts of someone who currently has COVID-19 or is being tested for COVID-19 are asked to voluntarily self-isolate for 14 days when they arrive in Old Crow
  2. Travellers are asked to check the exposure notices posted by Yukon Government. If any travellers to Old Crow were in any of the exposure sites, please immediately call the nursing station at 966-4444 for instructions. This will greatly assist our nurses in managing the risk of COVID-19 in our community, helping keep our Elders, the vulnerable, and our loved ones safe.
  3. Per the updated Yukon government regulations, anyone arriving from travel outside the Yukon is required to self-isolate for 14 days. People arriving to Old Crow from out-of-territory travel are asked to send Vuntut Gwitchin Government a copy of the isolation plan they presented Yukon Government upon arrival to the Yukon by fax at 966-3800.

Please help us keep our community safe by following these recommendations. Current travel measures are voluntary, but Vuntut Gwitchin Chief and Council may make these or other measures mandatory if needed to keep our citizens safe, or if our community moves into a higher risk level. We will continue updating Air North, Yukon’s Airline, and other partners as the situation in our community evolves
