Air North Unveils Refreshed Uniform Accessories Inspired by the Yukon’s Land, Culture, and People

Whitehorse, Yukon — May 31, 2025 – Air North, Yukon’s Airline, is proud to unveil a meaningful update to its inflight uniforms with the introduction of redesigned scarves and ties.

More than just a visual refresh, these accessories complement our Vuntut Gwitchin partners ‘Vision the Heart Sees’ or ‘Jidii nakhwats’oo gogwijiłcheii nakhwadrii ts’at tr’agwanah’in’ guiding phrase said Stephen Mills, Director, Air North, Yukon’s Airline. “As well, our recent addition of the caribou on our Boeing 737-800s and ATR 42 turbo prop aircraft. All are a tribute to the Yukon’s culture and landscapes, and the strong connection the airline shares with the people and communities it serves”.

“We’re excited to unveil the refreshed look of our inflight department, inspired by the beauty of the Yukon”, said Ryan Kinney, Director of Flight Operations. “This new look reflects the spirit of our home skies and ensures our crews stand out with pride on board and throughout the airports we fly to”.

Designed with intention and care, each colour in the new uniform elements represents a distinct aspect of the Yukon:

  • Orange symbolizes the warmth, hospitality, and energy of the midnight sun. It reflects the welcoming spirit of the North and the vibrancy of Yukon people and communities.
  • Blue is inspired by the Yukon’s countless lakes and rivers, with a special nod to the mighty Yukon, Porcupine, and Klondike Rivers, lifelines that have shaped travel, tradition, and connection across the territory for generations. This colour represents movement, shared stories, and the deep bonds formed through water. It also honours the continued respect, enjoyment, and collective stewardship of these incredible places and the people who care for them.
  • White pays homage to the winter landscape. It reflects the stillness and resilience of snow-covered mountains, forests, frozen lakes, aurora skies and honours the season’s traditions of gathering, storytelling, and reflection.

“These new scarves and ties are more than uniform pieces, they are a visual expression of our values and identity”, said Benjamin Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer of Air North, Yukon’s Airline. “They honour all of our people and the land on which we operate. We are proud to serve Yukoners and visitors - every flight, every day”.

The updated accessories will be worn by the Air North inflight team beginning May 31, 2025, coinciding with International Flight Attendant Day and will be visible to travellers on all scheduled flights. This initiative is part of the airline’s ongoing commitment to celebrating Northern culture, fostering a sense of belonging, and promoting respect for Indigenous traditions and territory.
