Thanks to our domestic baggage transfer agreement, and a specific exemption in Air Canada’s ticket policy that allows for through-check from Air North, your baggage can be transferred between most same-day domestic Air North, Yukon’s Airline and Air Canada flights.
Starting your journey with Air North, Yukon’s Airline
Your Air Canada itinerary or boarding pass will be required.
- When checking in for your Air North flight, let the agent know that you have a same-day connection from your Air North destination airport with an Air Canada flight to another destination in Canada. As long as there is sufficient time between the flights, your luggage will be also be tagged for the connecting flight. You will need to present your Air Canada itinerary or boarding pass to complete the process.
- You can also provide this information ahead of time, if you book via our website or through our call centre. It will then be reconfirmed with you when you check-in at the airport. In both cases, proof of the Air Canada travel (itinerary or boarding pass) will be required.
- The baggage rules and fees applicable to your Air North booking will apply for the entire journey.

Your Air North, Yukon’s Airline itinerary or boarding pass will be required.
- Air North has a specific exemption in Air Canada’s ticket policy for a process known as through-check. When you check in with Air Canada, inform the airport agent that you have a same-day connection from your Air Canada destination with an Air North flight. The agent will confirm this through their internal procedures on separate tickets. As long as there is sufficient time between flights, your luggage will be tagged for the connecting flight. To complete the process, you will need to present your Air North itinerary or boarding pass.
- The baggage rules and fees applicable to your Air Canada booking will apply for the entire journey.
Connecting between your flights
- After arriving at the connecting airport, you may go directly to the gate for your next flight. Once there, let the gate agent know as soon as possible that you are a connecting passenger. This will help make sure your baggage is loaded onto the flight.
Timing requirements
- A minimum of 75 minutes between Air North and Air Canada flights is required.
Important notes and limitations
- This process is only possible for same-day domestic departures before midnight local time between Air North and Air Canada.
- Baggage cannot be transferred without proof of travel (itinerary or boarding passes) for both airlines.
- Neither airline can issue boarding passes for the other.
- Dangerous goods or firearms cannot be transferred between the airlines.
- Pets travelling as checked baggage cannot be transferred between the airlines.
